AUDACIOUS AND LUXURIOUS

KINGSLEY WIJAYASINHA

Maserati has launched the Grecale, a new luxury crossover available in both 2.0-litre mild-hybrid and 3.0-litre V6 engine options.

Boasting the “Italian Audacity” concept, the Grecale, the second Maserati crossover after the Levante, competes against the popular Porsche Cayenne as well as other European makes like the Audi Q7, BMW X5 and MercedesBenz GLE.

The Grecale GT is priced at 6,490,000 baht and features a 300hp MHEV powerplant while the rangetopping Grecale Trofeo is priced at 9,490,000 baht and boasts an F1-inspired “Nettuno” 530hp V6 engine. Acceleration from 0-100kph ranges from 5.6secs for the GT to 3.8secs for the Trofeo, while the top speeds are 240kph and 285kph, respectively.

Both come with 8-speed transmission with all-wheel drive and limited slip differential (mechanical in the GT and electronic in the Trofeo). The GT comes with 19in alloy wheels while the Trofeo gets 21in wheels.

Brakes are massive, with the Trofeo coming getting 360mm/350mm discs with Brembo calipers both front and rear. The GT gets slightly smaller discs and Brembo calipers only at the front.

There are both on-road and off-road driving modes for both variants, but the Trofeo also gets a Corsa mode with the latest vehicle dynamic control module from Maserati.

The interior features luxury items such as real wood and leather, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display as well two centre touchscreens (12.3inch and 8.8-inch). The audio system features loudspeakers from high-end Italian manufacturer Sonus Faber.

There are 535 litres of luggage space in the GT and 570 litres in the Trofeo.
