The SET50 Index closed last week at 985.62 points, an increase of 16.21 points, or 1.67% from the previous week. The most traded SET50 Futures contract S50U22 (expiring in September 2022) was settled at 979.00 points, up 16.6 points, or 1.72%.

Global markets rallied as investors breathed a sigh of relief after data showed US inflation may finally be easing from a four-decade high, giving the Federal Reserve some room to slow its pace of interest-rate increases. The Nasdaq has entered a technical bull market, having risen more than 20% from its June lows. The Dow closed up 428 points (1.27%) on Friday to finish the week at 33,761.05, an increase of 2.9% from 32,803.47 the week before.

Thai shares also advanced, as investors were cheered by good second-quarter results, though the impact of inflation on second-half performance could pressure share prices going forward. The SET rose 5.05 points on Thursday to finish the holiday-shortened week at 1,622.26, up 1.3% from 1,601.09 the previous week.

On the TFEX, daily average trading volume was 502,734 contracts, an increase of 36,341 contracts, or 7.8% from the previous week. The most actively traded product was SET50 Index Futures with 929,200 contracts, or 232,300 per day. Total market open interest was 3,712,568 contracts, an increase of 80,410 or 2.2%.
