Man nabbed for father’s death

A man has been arrested over the death of an elderly person who was found with multiple head injuries and stab wounds on a roadside in Prakhon Chai district.

The victim was identified as Khamao Sophian, 72, a resident of tambon Paisarn, while the suspect in police custody is his youngest son, Chatchawan Sophian, 28.

Khamao’s body was found lying faceup on the road next to a fallen motorcycle, which made it look as if he had died from a traffic accident.

But upon examining the victim’s injuries, which included severe blunt force trauma and multiple stab wounds on his neck and back, the police concluded he had been murdered.

Investigators later inspected Khamao’s house at Lalomphanu village in tambon Paisarn, where they found evidence of a struggle and traces of dried blood around the house, along with a partially burned mattress.

During questioning, Mr Chatchawan denied killing or assaulting his father.
