ANIMALS WITHOUT TAILS

ANIMA / JOYMAN GALLERY / MAY 22-JULY 7

The seventh solo show of Niam Mawornkanong is inspired by his own experience of house hunting, browsing through endless lists of second-hand homes. Empty houses make him think about families who lived there, where they ate and what kind of pets they had. After moving into a small house of his own and living alone, he started to discover his anima, which Carl Jung defines as the feminine part of a man’s personality. For him, however, anima is animal without a tail (a small big brain moment). During the peak of Covid-19, he stayed at home to create artworks about home and contemplate it deeply as a concept while yearning for the outdoors. “anima” is on show at Joyaman Gallery on Mahachai Road.
