STYLE AT A GREAT PRICE POINT

Mazda is preparing to release new models to the market this quarter, starting with the new Mazda CX-5, which will be available in three engine types — a 2.0-litre petrol, 2.2-diesel and 2.5-litre turbo petrol.

Mazda entered the crossover SUV segment with four basic models — the CX-3, CX-5, CX-8 and CX-30 — resulting in its growing popularity in Thailand. Mazda has so far this year sold 9,700 CX-5s, up 27% from 7,653 units the previous year, and has a 17% market share. Mazda believes that slight adjustments and a new pricing strategy will drive growth.

“The total sales of Mazda from January to September was 25,800 units, a slight decrease of 1% from 26,000 units. The situation this year has been challenging due to Covid-19, especially since our internal working procedures needed to be upgraded for digital transformation. After this month, Mazda will work to drive the business by introducing new vehicles in all segments. I believe the new Mazda CX-5 will fulfil customers’ needs and will be a model that generates healthy sales volumes in the last quarter. With this model, we believe we can achieve the sales target of the 2021 fiscal year,” said Chanchai Trakarnudomsuk, president of Mazda Sales (Thailand).

The Mazda CX-5 was the first model to have Skyactiv technology and it has quickly become a market favourite, selling over 8 million units worldwide. The first generation was unveiled in the Thai market in November 2013 and it sold over 17,000 units, followed by a second generation which debuted in Nov 2017 and sold 15,000 units.

“Pricing is the main factor supporting Mazda CX-5’s rapid success with the price starting from 1.32 million baht. When comparing its price to features and technology, the Mazda CX-5 is the most valuable vehicle in the automotive market. In addition, when a promotional package is included — a low-interest rate, free Mazda premium insurance and aftersales service offered throughout the ownership of the vehicle — the car is considered as the most value for money vehicle,” said Thee Permpongpanth, senior vice-president.

The Mazda CX-5 focuses on usefulness and utility, with design functions and driver-centred device placement that adheres to HMI (Human Machine Interface) philosophy. Additionally, this model includes an in-car communication system, dubbed Mazda Connect, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as an 8-inch touchscreen display that is operated by the central command. The car also features a windshield active driving display that helps the driver maintain concentration and improve safety. Also featured in all models of the Mazda CX-5 is GVC Plus, which is part of the Skyactiv technology, and it helps with stability and road grip when cornering.

The Mazda CX-5 is available in six colours — machine grey, soul red crystal, deep crystal blue, jet black, snow flake white pearl, and sonic silver.
