Seminar to explore Omicron challenges

POST REPORTERS

The Covid-19 variant, Omicron, is posing a new threat to the economy. It is time to explore how we can adapt to the threat of further Covid-19 disruption, and the hope for the future as we enter the new year.

For almost two years, Covid-19 has gripped the world, affecting local businesses and the economy. However, as global vaccinations pass 7.9 billion doses and more than 54% of the world’s population has received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, glimpses of post-Covid life are emerging.

Despite the challenges posed by the new variant, Omicron, one thing that is clear is that Covid-19 won’t stop humanity from progressing.

The year 2022 is likely to become a milestone year during which the world will enter a period of recovery, or at least learned how to better coexist with Covid-19.

The Bangkok Post International Forum 2021 “Unleashing the Future: A Glimpse into 2022 and Beyond” will explore these topics with a firstclass line-up of speakers. The seminar will be held on Dec 2 at the World Ballroom, 23rd Floor, Centara Grand at CentralWorld in Bangkok.

Various high-level dignitaries will participate in the event as both physical and virtual speakers. Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith will shed light on the challenges and opportunities for the Thai economy in 2022 and beyond.

Yuriko Koike, the Governor of Tokyo, who brought the Tokyo 2020 Olympics to a successful conclusion amid many Covid-19 related challenges, will give a virtual address at the event.

The aviation industry was among the hardest-hit by the pandemic. Tony Fernandes, Chief Executive Officer, AirAsia Group, will tell the conference whether the industry is ready to take off next year.

The gubernatorial election for Bangkok also will be in the spotlight next year. Chadchart Sittipunt, former minister of transport and popular favourite for governor, will share his views about the future of Bangkok.

Digital Assets, including cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFT), and the hot virtual-world technology, metaverse, are trending. Jirayut Srupsrisopa, Founder & Group Chief Executive Officer, Bitkub Capital Group Holding Co, Thailand’s latest unicorn, will discuss challenges and opportunities ahead.

Cameron Fox, Founding Head of School, VERSO International School, will talk on on education and how a Silicon Valley-inspired school in Thailand is preparing its learners to be future-ready.

The post Covid-19 era is challenging for business. Industry veterans Isao Sekiguchi, President, Nissan Thailand, and Jackie Chang, President, Delta Electronics (Thailand), will discuss lessons learned and

future directions.
